I recently had the opportunity to travel to Switzerland to visit Uwe (Sound of Drums GmbH) at his home.
Our aim was to talk about the co-operation that started last October and future projects (link).
Of course I had the first production sample of the new game Assault Sicily 43 – Gela Beachhead with me.
I have to say that I was thrilled by Uwe’s wargame collection . Uwe has been playing and collecting games from many eras since he was 14 years old. Here you can find well-known titles from antiquity to the Napoleonic era to the American Civil War to modern times. You can see his passion for this hobby. Several rooms in the house are equipped with gaming tables and games set up. Wow! I’d say he’s a wargamer through and through.
So I was delighted when we were able to put our new product Sicily on the table and let the dice roll across the Sicilian sandy beach. What fun. After a short time, Uwe had internalised the Assault System. Afternoons like this always go the same way. Before you know it, one game is over and the next one begins. Then it’s night.
I travelled back fully motivated and had many new impressions and ideas to think about. The visit to Uwe’s place confirmed once again that this co-operation with Sound of Drums was the right decision. I’m looking forward to a great time together and as many new games as possible in the Assault System.
