Why no upgrade kit?

Update #10

Will there be an upgrade kit for 1st Edition owners? No. Why? Let me explain…

Upgrade Kit for Existing Customers?

Since the very first announcement that we are planning to bring back our long sold-out debut title, Assault: Red Horizon 41, as a Revised Edition, we have received many enquiries asking whether we will offer an upgrade kit for owners of the original edition.

Before addressing this question in detail, we would like to make one thing absolutely clear:

We are truly grateful for the support we received during our original Kickstarter campaign. Without the gamers who believed in us from the very beginning, our dream of publishing our own tactical wargame would never have become a reality.

You placed your trust in us when Assault Games was just starting out.

You backed us, supported us, and helped shape the foundation of this system.

For that, we would like to express our sincere thanks once again. Find out more when the campaign begins.

What’s the Difference Between the 1st Edition and the Revised Edition?

Over the years, Red Horizon 41 has evolved significantly. The Revised Edition is not simply a reprint — it represents a comprehensive refinement of the system across rules, materials, artwork and gameplay content.

Below is a structured overview of the key differences:

Rules Development

  • Original edition based on Rulebook 1.0
  • Revised Edition updated to Rulebook 2.5 (or potentially 3.0)
  • Full integration of content and rules from the TA / OAS Expansion
  • Clarifications, streamlining and structural improvements based on years of gameplay feedback

The revised rules are not only the result of internal development, but also of the constructive input, critical discussions and practical experience shared by our player community over the years. Many refinements would not have been possible without this ongoing exchange.

The Revised Edition therefore reflects everything we have learned since the original release — both as designers and together with you as players.
